Kursing Krispy Kreme
Posted by Trixter on January 14, 2006
Krispy Kreme is hell on earth for people who are dieting. Their stores are everywhere, a dozen glazed donuts is about $6.50 (relatively cheap, all things considering), and you get a free donut just for walking in the store. Melissa brought home a mixed dozen and I ate two of them. Dammit dammit dammit!
Usually I treat the weekend as a few days to be somewhat lax with my eating — I won’t hit McDonald’s or anything, but I will have kettle (sweetened) popcorn instead of just regular popcorn, or I’ll eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast instead of a slimfast shake, etc. But having those two donuts just threw me out of wack; it wasn’t even that enjoyable eating them (probably because I haven’t had that much sugar/fat since the first of the month).
One dozen glazed Krispy Kreme donuts is 2400 calories. So the 400 I ate may not seem like much, but it is when you’re trying to limit yourself to 1200-1500 a day and not collapse from malnutrition. Anyway, hopefully I was good enough throughout the week that it won’t affect the weigh-in tomorrow.

HI, I just sent you an e-mail about an old AT&T Monitor then started reading on your site. SLIMFAST!! Yes!!! That is the only diet that enabled me to lose weight! I was a chocolateholic and would go all day without any but at night while reading ( another addiction! LOL) I could eat a whole bag of mini Clark Bars, Dark Chocolate Milky Ways, etc. Just slam them all at once in mouth! Now I hardly even crave chocolate! While I was on the Slimfast Shakes, they had these awesome snack bars. Chocolate Peanut Butter ones, and many others. Well, I saved them all up during the day and ate all 3 allowed at bedtime. It worked for me to my surprise. I did have to convenience of managing a Restaurant and could eat broiled or baked Chicken and unlimited veggies and enjoyed a bake potato every day with “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.” I have now mantained my weight for 10 years now by eating healthy foods but yummy ones. And shame on Melissa for baking awesome Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! LOL Make her use Splenda!!!! And thank God Krispy Kreems out East here are closing down. :-) They are the best!!!!!

I agree with your philosophy — if you can under-cut your eating, you can allow yourself a bit of fun. I did that this week and then totally splurged yesterday on a Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme
I’m going to stay away from sweets for a while, though; I have some major dentistry coming up and the research I’ve been doing shows that refined sugar is pretty much the only reason tooth decay occurs.
